Melissa Gallant holds degrees from Indiana University and Butler University. She regularly performs throughout central Indiana in concert, scholastic and social settings. Gallant is harpist with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and the Indiana Wind Symphony. She has also performed with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Marion Philharmonic and other regional orchestras.
In addition to Lafayette Symphony Orchestra’s Cushion Concerts, Gallant presents educational programming through Arts for Learning. In 2003, Gallant received a Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and in November 2010, was the first harpist to perform on stage at the Palladium Concert Hall in Carmel, Indiana. 2015-16 highlights include performances of The Fantasticks with Actors Theater of Indiana and playing on the closing concert of the American Harp Society’s National Conference.
She is looking forward to debuting a new project this year: traditional Celtic melodies kicked up a notch with a blues influence. You can hear her at the LSO B-Side: Track 3, Celtic Harp Blues on June 7, 2018 at Carnahan Hall.
